Interesting debate. Since I have been actively campaigning for Delgado this offseason I can't back down now that I would want him here. But I totally understand the thinking with Drew, I just never thought we were very involved with him. Plus I am always a little weary of him getting hurt, but perhaps that is behind him now.
The Mets can't go wrong with either one but its hard to tell who is the right choice. Drew projects better, true, but thats because he had his best season last year, and one that really its not in line with what he's done in the past. Granted, he's always been above average, but I don't think he is this good. Add in the injury factor, which the projection predicts anyway, and it gets a little dicier.
Gun to my head, I'd go with Drew if only because he's younger and better defensively. But hey, when you are settling for Carlos Delgado, you've already made the best choice [targeting good ballplayers].
